Description
This research examines the synthesis of three Schiff bases, accomplished by the condensation reaction of dehydroacetic acid (DHA) with primary amines. The resultant compounds were evaluated using several analytical methods, including UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and melting point determination.
Additionally, the catalytic effectiveness of the resulting complexes was evaluated using the in situ oxidation of catechol to o-quinone. Experimental findings showed remarkable catalytic efficiency using methanol as the solvent. Research on concentration and solvent effects was conducted, revealing that methanol significantly enhances the catalytic process, particularly with certain ligand-metal combinations
